Temple Beth Israel - Shabbat Services

Beginning in February of 2025, Temple Beth Israel has been holding in-person Shabbat services on the last Friday of each month. The services have been led by Mr. Barry Nickelsberg, who brings his extensive experience to our congregation (see his introductory letter below) and has graciously volunteered to lead these services.

Our Friday evening services begin at 7:00 PM and conclude at about 8:00 PM. They are typically followed by an Oneg Shabbat.

The schedule of our “end-of-the-month” Shabbat services for the first six months of 2026 is as follows:

Dear TBI Congregants and Friends,

Please allow me to introduce myself.

In 2010, I was plucked out of obscurity by my mentor and friend, Rabbi Robert Kirzner z"l, who saw the potential in me to be a cantor and congregational leader. Since then, I have had the honor of leading hundreds of Shabbat services in synagogues from Snellville, Georgia to Fairbanks, Alaska. During this time, I have also co-led 11 High Holy Day services, officiated at three weddings, five baby namings, one vidui and a funeral.

Also, I have studied Torah and the Talmud daily for the past 15 years. Branching out, I have led year-long online classes (Judaism 101) for "cultural Jews" who want to learn about their religion and heritage as well as non-Jewish family members and those interested in exploring conversion. My students have come from more than a dozen states throughout the US.

Since February 28, 2025, I have had the honor of leading Shabbat services on the last Friday evening of each month at Temple Beth Israel. We expect those services to continue for the foreseeable future.

If you sing, play the piano, violin, viola, cello, harp, flute, clarinet or saxophone, we would love to work you into our services whenever your schedule allows.
